Appearance

Jeida is an middle-aged man with long wavy brown hair and a bushy mustache. According to Noriko, he walks with dignity. He occasionally appears forlorn.

Personality

Jeida is a kind and intelligent man who dislikes violence and believes fairness and justice. Often the peacemaker of during his time as Grand Duke and with Noriko's group, his gentle ways both irritate and disgust his enemies. He stands for justice and, even if it might cost his life, he refuses to abandon his principles or bow down to the corrupted.

Because he dislikes violence, he doesn't know how to fight, preferring to use words to end hostilities if he can.

History

Before his exile, he was once a wise nobleman, hated by others such as Lord Nada and Kemil but beloved by the common folk and especially those of the Gray Brid Tribe. Jeida did not believe in using violence to solve matters which went against a lot of what the government stood for. Kemil, wanting to weaken Jeida, faked a rebellion so that Jeida would lose his high ranking position and he and Nada could gain more power. This would also help in removing any opposition from preventing Nada, the king's second overindulgent son, from becoming the royal successor.

For his family's safety, he and his sons, Rontarna and Koriki, left with Banadam while his wife and daughter hid with the chief of the royal guard, Alef. It's unknown when Jeida was exiled but judging by the conversation between Gaya and Banadam, it was recent, perhaps within a few days of Noriko arriving at Gaya's house.

Relationships

Niana

Despite being opposites in terms of their personalities, the relationship between Niana and Jeida is purely affectionate as both wholeheartedly love one another. Jeida is very much aware of his wife's tendency to wander and get lost, though, unlike his daughter, he doesn't scold her nor does it seem like he bothers to discipline her.

Glocia

Out of his three children, Glocia is the only one to share a similar personality to Jeida. He loves her just as much as his sons and it seems that he has taken great pains to ensure that she capable of understanding politics. 

Rontarna

The eldest of Jeida's sons, Rontarna is protective of his family and is often seen protecting his father when in battle.

Koriki

Though a bit of brash and excitable character, Koriko loves his father and does his best to protect him from their enemies.

Banadam

While it's unknown how long Banadam served under Jeida, but they are very familiar with one another and Banadam has no issue putting his life on the line for Jeida.

Trivia

• It was briefly mentioned that Jeida had more than one daughter in volume 3, however, Glocia is his only daughter. This is likely either a continuity error or a translation error much like with Noriko's older brother.
• Oddly, Jeida and his wife have very different personalities. She is easily excitable and air-headed while he is more bound to reality. Still, they love each other dearly regardless of the conflicting personalities.
• His full name was revealed on the last page of Volume 9 by the three former Gray Bird tribesmen.
  • It's also mentioned that it's been six years since Jeida pushed for the Gray Bird Tribe to disband rather than have them executed. Seeing as Jeida is said to be 52 years old, this means he was around 46 years old when the Tribe disbanded.
